York Sophomore Katie Wagner Secures CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honor
YORK, Pa. -- York sophomore Katie Wagner was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for April 19, 2016.

York sophomore Katie Wagner claimed CAC Player of the Week accolades after leading the Spartans to a 3-0 week and securing the match-clinching point in a victory over St. Mary's in the first round of the CAC Tournament. With the match against St. Mary's knotted at 4-4, Wagner earned the decisive singles victory with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win at the No. 1 position, sending the Spartans to the semifinals. Earlier in the match, she teamed with Darian Naill for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Wagner posted a combined 6-0 mark throughout the week as the Spartans also swept past Penn State Harrisburg and McDaniel. She dropped just one total game in those two No. 1 singles matches.

After dropping the first set, 6-2, she bounced back for 6-3, 6-4 wins as the Eagles won, 5-4. In doubles, she and Kait Brogan won at one, 9-7, for another nail-biting win ... York has won 10 matches for the first time since 2010 when its won 11. Katie Wagner is 11-2 in first singles and has won five straight matches. Wagner and Darian Naill are now 11-3 in first doubles and have won three straight.
