Salisbury Junior Zoe Moffat Claims CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honor

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury junior Zoe Moffat was selected as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for April 12, 2016.

Salisbury junior Zoe Moffat was named the CAC Player of the Week after posting a perfect week with eight wins. In singles play at the No. 2 position, she started the week with a three-set win against Emma Allen of the No. 10-ranked team in the South Atlantic Region, TCNJ, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Her other three wins came in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-2 win against Washington College's Julie Lazer, who is ranked No. 25 in the region, while the Shorewomen are the No. 40 team in the nation. In doubles play, Moffat paired with senior Natalie Savage to collect four wins, including a pair of 8-0 triumphs.

Mary Washington defeated Christopher Newport 8-1 on Saturday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center to complete its 10th straight perfect CAC regular season and lock up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament ... The CAC Tournament field and seeds are now set ... No. 2 Christopher Newport will host No. 3 Salisbury in a semifinal match on Tuesday, April 19, while No. 1 UMW will host the No. 4/5 winner in the other semifinal ... No. 4 St. Mary's will host No. 5 York in the first round on Friday, April 15 ... In the March 31 ITA National Rankings, Mary Washington (No. 18) and Christopher Newport (No. 33) both retained their previous rankings ... In the ITA Atlantic South Regional Rankings, UMW is No. 6, CNU is No. 7 and Salisbury is No. 9 ... Individually, UMW's Kait Brogan (No. 11), Salisbury's Natalie Savage (No. 12), CNU's McKinney Harwood (No. 19), and Salisbury's Zoe Moffatt (No. 21) are regionally ranked ...
