YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Marcus Carter secured CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Feb. 15, 2016.

Christopher Newport sophomore Marcus Carter claimed CAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this year after averaging a double-double in another 2-0 week for the sixth-ranked Captains, who improved to 16-0 in conference play. Carter recorded 15 points and 12 rebounds in a home win over Mary Washington on Wednesday, before matching a career-high with 27 points along with 10 boards in a road triumph at York. He made 18 of 27 shots (.667%) and added 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. He has now registered four double-doubles this season, and has taken over the team scoring lead.

Christopher Newport (16-0; No. 1 seed) and Salisbury (11-5; No. 2 seed) are the only teams to have clinched playoff spots ... Mary Washington, St. Mary's and Southern Virginia are tied for third at 8-8 in CAC play, with Penn State Harrisburg and Marymount one game back at 7-9 ... CNU (No. 1) and Salisbury (No. 3) are ranked in the NCAA Middle Atlantic Regional Rankings ... In the D3hoops.com Week 9 National Rankings, CNU remained at No. 6 while Salisbury received five votes ... CNU is 22-1 overall and has won 13 straight. The Captains have tied the CAC record for most conference wins in a season (16 in 2014-15 by St. Mary's).
