Christopher Newport sophomore Marcus Carter earned CAC Player of the Week honors after posting his first double-double of the season in the Captains' 93-74 road win over Pitt-Greensburg. His 21 points and 10 rebounds helped the 11th-ranked Captains improve their record to 8-0 heading into the holiday break. Carter shot 75% (9-for-12) from the floor in his 32 minutes of play.

Eight CAC teams were in action last week, including one CAC contest ... Wesley defeated Southern Virginia 91-74 in the lone conference matchup of the week ... In the D3hoops.com Week 3 National Rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked 11th while Salisbury received 56 votes ... CNU is the lone unbeaten team at 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the CAC ... CNU has started 8-0 for the first time since 2000-2001 ... Frostburg State senior Nick Smoot poured in 13 points and handed out nine assists in a loss to Roanoke ... Mary Washington became the fourth CAC team to defeat nationally ranked Virginia Weslyan on Wednesday, with junior T.J. Jones hitting the winning three-pointer with two seconds left. The Eagles then faced Division I William and Mary and led at halftime by seven before falling 94-64. John Lutkenhaus went for 23 against the Tribe ... St. Mary's went 1-1 last week with a 79-57 triumph over North Central (Minn.) and a 49-35 loss to Wooster ... Salisbury registered a 50-49 victory over Concordia (Wisc.) in its opening game of the San Juan Shootout on Sunday,
