St. Mary's Senior Nicholas LaGuerre Earns Fourth CAC Men's Basketball Weekly Award of Season
YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's senior Nicholas LaGuerre earned CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Feb. 23, 2015.

St. Mary's senior guard Nicholas LaGuerre was named the CAC Player of the Week for the fourth time this year after averaging 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in leading the Seahawks to a 2-0 week and the No. 1 seed in the CAC playoffs. LaGuerre tallied a season-best 33 points in powering the Seahawks past Christopher Newport last Wednesday for the program's sixth CAC regular-season title. He connected on career-best six three-pointers vs. CNU. LaGuerre followed that up with 20 points, five assists, and five rebounds in the road win over Southern Virginia as the Seahawks finished the regular season on a 12-game winning streak.

The CAC Men's Basketball Playoffs begin on Tuesday, with No. 6 Mary Washington at No. 3 Marymount (8 p.m.) and No. 5 Wesley at No. 4 Christopher Newport (7:40 p.m.) ... No. 1 St. Mary's and No. 2 Salisbury received first-round byes and will host Thursday's semifinals ... St. Mary's is ranked sixth in the Middle Atlantic Region in the NCAA Regional Rankings ... Senior Taylor Johnson led Mary Washington with 19 points in each game this week, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor including 4-of-6 three pointers at home against Southern Virginia, and then scoring 19 on 7-of-9 shooting at Wesley. The senior guard shot 61.9% from the field, going 6-of-8 on three pointers for the week, and added 5.5 rebounds per contest ... Wyatt Smith put together another big week for Salisbury, averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game as the Gulls added two wins in their final two regular-season games to clinch the No. 2 seed in the CAC tournament.
