YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury sophomore forward Justin Witmer secured CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for Jan. 12, 2015.

Salisbury sophomore forward Justin Witmer was named the CAC Player of the Week after helping lead the Sea Gulls to a 2-0 week in CAC play, defeating Mary Washington and York. Witmer scored 24 points with seven three-pointers against the Eagles and added 11 points and five rebounds against the Spartans. For the week he shot 60% from the field and over 55.6% (10-of-18) from behind the arc. He finished the week with averages of 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.0 three-pointers per contest.

Three teams are currently tied atop the CAC standings with 5-1 conference records - Marymount, Christopher Newport, and St. Mary's, while Salisbury and Wesley are one game back at 4-2 ... Christopher Newport is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll ... Freshman Eric Shaw emerged for Mary Washington this week, averaging 22.0 PPG and 8.0 RPG while shooting 57.1% from the field, as well as 12-of-14 from the free throw line. Shaw scored a career-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds in the Eagles double overtime loss to Wesley ... St. Mary's extended its win streak to six straight with victories over Frostburg State and Southern Virginia. Tanner Brooks led the Seahawks with 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest ... In the closest game of the week, Wesley outlasted Mary Washington 90-89 in double overtime on Saturday. Jordan Johnson's jumper with 11 seconds left in the second OT gave Wesley the win. The Wolverines overcame a 21-point deficit to force overtime.
