Southern Virginia senior Dallin Evans was selected as the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after recording a combined 5-1 singles and doubles mark last week and helping the Knights to their first-ever CAC Tournament victory. Evans was instrumental in a 6-3 CAC first round win over St. Mary's, winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and teaming with Brennan Alford for an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles. Earlier in the week, Evans and Alford notched doubles wins against Frostburg State and Shenandoah, while Evans also posted a 6-1, 6-0 singles win vs. Frostburg State.

The CAC semifinals are set for Wednesday, with top-seeded Mary Washington hosting Southern Virginia and second-seeded Christopher Newport hosting third-seeded Salisbury ... In the April 14 ITA National Rankings, Mary Washington is ranked No. 26 and Christopher Newport is No. 27 ... In the Atlantic South Regionally rankings, UMW is No. 5, CNU is No. 3 and Salisbury is No. 16 ... In the individual regional rankings, Salisbury's Eric Spangler is No. 6, CNU's David Reed is No. 10, UMW's Brandon Griffin is No. 15, UMW's David Lunding Johansson is No. 16, and CNU's Justin Cerny is No. 18 ... UMW freshman Derek Hagino turned in a great weekend for the Eagles against two traditional national powers. Hagino picked up a key singles win at six against Johns Hopkins on Sunday, 6-1, 6-3, as the Eagles topped the Blue Jays for the first time since 2008. He nearly gained a point for UMW on Saturday against No. 1 Emory, falling at three doubles with David-Lunding Johansson, 9-8.
