YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Arttu Fiva was named the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Sept. 23, 2015.

Christopher Newport junior Arttu Fiva was named CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after opening the season with a 5-1 singles record and 3-2 doubles mark in a pair of tournaments hosted by the Captains. Four of Fiva's singles victories came in straight sets, with the other coming against Division I Norfolk State's Nico Lluch (6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 10-6). He also teamed with doubles partner William Trang to take down Lluch and Antonio Pejic of Norfolk State, 9-7.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Six CAC squads have opened up their fall campaigns ... Mary Washington began the fall season by hosting NC Wesleyan, Washington & Lee and George Mason for the UMW Kickoff Classic. The Eagles went 12-2 for the weekend in doubles and had a number of players win two singles matches each. Sophomore Joe Dillenbeck finished with a 4-1 singles record and went 2-0 in doubles ... Penn State Harrisburg is 2-0 with close wins over Albright (5-4) and Stevenson (6-3) ... St. Mary's opened the fall season with a 6-3 loss to Catholic, before first-year head coach Tyler Robinson notched his first career coaching win with a 9-0 shutout of Hood ... York is 1-1 with a 9-0 season-opening win over Hood and a tight 5-4 defeat to Messiah. Junior Aaron Marti went 2-0 at No. 4 singles with a pair of straight-set wins, and teamed with C.J. Weigle to earn an 8-3 third doubles win against Messiah.
