FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia freshman Morgan Bingham was honored as the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 26, 2017.

Southern Virginia freshman Morgan Bingham was honored as the CAC Athlete of the Week after taking first in her division and third overall at the Hornet Harrier and Commonwealth Challenge in Wincester, Va. Bingham won the Commonwealth division with a 5K time of 20:12.17, which placed her third overall in a field of 124 runners. Her time was a new personal record and was 47 seconds fastest than her previous 5K.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State, Marymount, Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's, and Southern Virginia competed last week, while Christopher Newport, Salisbury, Wesley, and York were idle ... Sophomore Michaela Garrison finished 19th in a 50-runner field as Frostburg State took runner-up at the Messiah College Invitational. She finished the 6k course in 29:03.30. ... Marymount junior Denise Gallant posted her third top-10 finish in as many races this season as she placed ninth at the Hornet Harrier Invitational. Gallant, who completed the 5k course in a time of 20:49.1, has posted four top-10 finishes in her last eight races dating back to last season. She also finished ninth at last year's Hornet Harrier Invitational ... St. Mary's first-year Kara Taylor used a ninth-place finish to power the Seahawks to a fifth-place finish in a 14-team field at the Osprey Open.
