Christopher Newport sophomore Jessica Lee was named the CAC Athlete of the Week after securing a victory in the 4k at the Mary Washington Cross Country Opener at the Clift Farm Road Course. Lee registered a time of 14:58.0, which topped the next closest competitor by over 10 seconds. Her clocking also marked the second-fastest 4k time in program history, falling just one second shy of the standard set by Jade Zaharoff in 2011. Lee also helped guide Christopher Newport to the team title as the Captains finished with a score of 20, highlighted six runners in the top-10.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State sophomore Michala Garrison was the Bobcats' top finisher at the Galen Piper XC Challenge at Shippensburg. She covered the 4k course in 17:44 and finished 71st overall. Freshman Natalie Gray captured 80th for FSU at 18:12 ... Mary Washington opened with a second place finish in hosting CNU, Marymount, and Southern Virginia. Freshman Maggie Larkin led the UMW women with a third place finish at 15:10 ... Marymount junior Denise Gallant posted a ninth-place finish at the UMW XC Opener on Friday, finishing the 4k course in a time of 15:27.0 to lead the Saints to a third-place team finish. She finished less than 30 seconds behind the race winner and was one of two women to finish in the top-20 for the Saints ... Salisbury sophomore Christine Sturm led the Sea Gulls with a second-place finish in the annual Salisbury Fall Classic. Sturm crossed the finish line in a time 22:24.39 coming in just after runner Stephanie Bresadola from Division II Kutztown University. Southern Virginia's Morgan Bingham placed 11th at the UMW Opener with a time of 15:32.7 to pace the Knights ... Jess DelViscio was York's top finisher at Friday's Piper XC Challenge hosted by Shippensburg University. DelViscio crossed the line in the 4K race with a time of 16:06, good for a top 30 finish in the race.
