FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury freshman Liana Fioanini was named the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 19, 2017.

Salisbury freshman Liana Foianini was named the CAC Athlete of the Week after placing 24th out of 299 runners at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational last weekend. Foianini paced the Sea Gulls with a time of 19:16.74 in the 5k race, helping SU to a sixth-place team finish.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport is receiving votes in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rankings ... Monica Lannen led CNU at the William & Mary Invitational after finishing 62nd overall - and first among Division III competitors - in the 5k with a time of 20:46.06. Her clocking helped CNU finish sixth overall in the team standings, falling just behind Division I programs Charlotte, William & Mary, Navy, George Washington, and Hampton ... Wesley's Natalie Quigley earned her second top-10 finish of the year at Delaware State's Farm Run Invitational. Quigley placed sixth overall in the women's 5k with a time of 21:39.4. She ran an average mile time of 6:58.3 ... York junior Jess DelViscio led the Spartans at Saturday's D3/D3 Cross Country Challenge hosted by Kutztown University. DelViscio finished 45th with a time of 25:08.6 as she was the sixth best Division III finisher in the event. The Spartans finished 11th of 19 teams at the invitational.
