YORK, Pa. -- Marymount junior Morgan Alston was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Jan. 31, 2017.

Marymount junior Morgan Alston was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking a school record and securing a pair of first-place finishes in the Saints' 112-91 victory over Frostburg State. Alston notched first in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:01.55, setting a new MU program record. That time also ranks 16th in Division III this season. She later placed first in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.72, and also claimed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:09.80.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC women's swimming teams wrapped up their dual meet seasons last week ... In their final tune-ups prior to the CAC Swimming Championships, Mary Washington, Salisbury, and Marymount posted CAC victories on Saturday ... Mary Washington completed a perfect 5-0 conference regular season and a 8-1 overall mark ... UMW will seek its 27th conference title at the CAC Championships ... The CAC Championships are less than three weeks away, set for Feb. 17-19 at St. Mary's ... Frostburg State junior Macey Nitchie posted a perfect record last week in two meets. In the Bobcats' win over Elizabethtown, Nitchie captured wins in all three individual events; the 50-meter butterfly (31.45), the 100-meter freestyle (1:01.08) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:13.13). She set the school record in the 50 and helped the 400 medley relay to a win as well (4:5.44). Against Marymount, Nitchie won both of her individual events - the 50 freestyle (25.09) and 100 freestyle (54.84) and helped the 200 medley relay to a meet-opening win in 1:58.46 ... Senior Shannon Coryell won four races as Mary Washington closed the regular season with a 198-64 win over York on Saturday. She was part of the winning 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay teams, that finished at 1:50.19 and 1:42.18, respectively. Individually, she took first in the 50 freestyle at 25.17, and later won the 100 free at 54.91 ... Sophomore Hailley Baughman led St. Mary's against Salisbury, earning two golds in the Seahawks' regular-season finale. Baughman earned gold in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:21.53 and also took top honors in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:59.53 ... Salisbury senior Victoria Radcliffe went 5-for-5 in Saturday's 156-104 victory over St. Mary's. Radclifre posted three individual victories and contributed to a pair of victorious relay squads ... York sophomore Maddy Mann led the Spartans with a win and a pair of seconds at Mary Washington in the Spartans regular season finale on Saturday in Fredericksburg. Mann earned her win in the 500 freestyle at 5:23.15, and finished second in both the 1,000 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Mann finished the regular season with a team-leading 20 regular season wins and nine second place finishes. She owns the top time in the CAC in the 500 freestyle and ranks second in the 200 and 1,000 freestyles.
