Christopher Newport Senior Will Geise and Salisbury Senior Andrew Ternahan Claim CAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport senior Will Geise and Salisbury senior Andrew Ternahan were honored as the CAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 21, 2017.

Christopher Newport senior Will Geise received CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after posting 10 goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Captains. On Wednesday, he erupted for eight points, including six goals, during a 19-7 win over Wheaton (Mass.). His six goals not only equaled the second-highest single-game total in program history, but they also bumped his career total to 90 - breaking the CNU all-time program record of 86. Three days later, he added four more goals during a 17-3 triumph over Marymount.

Salisbury senior Andrew Ternahan earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this year after accounting for eight ground balls and five caused turnovers in a 17-5 win over Mary Washington. Ternahan and the Salisbury defense held the Eagles to just nine shots on goal and 19 total shots throughout the contest. Tenahan was also a part of the man-down unit that went 100% for the weekend.

Salisbury is ranked No. 1 in the Nike/USILA National Rankings, while York is ranked No. 6 and Frostburg State is receiving votes ... Salisbury is the lone remaining unbeaten in the CAC at 7-0 overall and one of just seven remaining unbeatens in the nation ... Christopher Newport's Will Cogan led the Captains with nine caused turnovers in a pair of victories last week. He caused seven turnovers in a 17-3 win over Marymount, marking the second-highest single-game total in CNU history, Guided by Cogan's efforts, the Captains limited Marymount to just three goals, which equaled the Saints' fewest in a game since 2011. CNU also limited both Wheaton (33) and Marymount (24) to their lowest shot totals of the season ... Frostburg State senior Kyle Horak won 13-of-14 faceoffs and scooped up eight ground balls as the Bobcats earned an 11-2 win over Wesley in the CAC opener for both ... Mary Washington sophomore Shane McKenzie scored a pair of assists in UMW's Saturday loss at No. 1 Salisbury ... Marymount sophomore Hunter McGeeney had a well-rounded week for the Saints, causing four turnovers and scooping up two ground balls on the defensive end, while scoring his first a goal in each of Marymount's contest as a long-stick defender ... Michael Bucci won 13-of-25 face-offs and scooped up seven ground balls as St. Mary's opened up CAC action against Southern Virginia. Javier Flores led St. Mary's on the defensive end with career-bests of seven ground balls and two caused turnovers ... In Salisbury's lone game of the week, Nathan Blondino continued his strong season as a facilitator with one goal and six assists. Blondino's six assists put him at 93 for his career to move him into a tie for 10th all-time in Salisbury history. Also, Blondino leads the CAC with 23 assists on the season ... Southern Virginia's Anthony Good scored a career-high eight goals in win at St. Mary's ... York posted road wins over Nazareth and No. 7 Stevenson last week. Brendan McGrath tallied four goals, five assists, and seven ground balls throughout the two victories. For the season, McGrath leads the Spartans in points with 41 and in goals with 28. He has also collected 30 ground balls and has put 76.4% of his shots on target. McGrath is tied for the conference lead in points and ranks second in goals scored. The Spartans have three wins over nationally ranked squads (Stevenson, Washington & Lee and Gettysburg) and in those three games, McGrath has 15 points on eight goals and seven assists.
