Frostburg State Freshman Macey Nitchie Receives CAC Women's Swimming Weekly Award

YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State freshman Macey Nitchie was named CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Feb. 3, 2015.

Frostburg State freshman Macey Nitchie was honored as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking her own school record and winning five of six events for the Bobcats in two meets. She kicked off the weekend with four total wins in Frostburg State's victory over Elizabethtown on Friday. She won the 200-meter freestyle (2:14.02), 50-meter freestyle (28.38), 100-meter freestyle (1:01.80) and helped the 200-meter freestyle relay team to a victory in 2:00.69. She added two more wins in a tri-meet with Mary Washington and Marymount, breaking her own school record while defeating the defending CAC Swimmer of the Year in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.85) and also claiming first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.48).

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All but one of the six CAC teams have completed their regular seasons leading up the the CAC Championships ... The CAC Championships are set for Feb. 20-22 at St. Mary's ... Mary Washington hosted a CAC tri-meet on Saturday with Marymount and Frostburg State. UMW captured a 169-79 triumph over Marymount and a 166-82 win over Frostburg State, while Marymount edged Frostburg State 48-46 ... Mary Washington finished the CAC regular season at 5-0 ... Senior Maddie Carinci led Mary Washington to a dual-dual meet win over Frostburg State and Marymount on Saturday, taking a pair of first-place individual finishes in the 1,000 freestyle at 11:33.98 and the 500 free at 5:36.09. ... Brooke Raab scored three gold medals as St. Mary's notched a regular-season finale victory over Catholic. The Seahawks finished the 2014-15 campaign with 12 wins, which is second all-time. Raab was part of the winning 400 medley relay before winning the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke events.
