Christopher Newport Juniors Scoop Simon and Hanah Marshall Earn CAC Softball Weekly Awards
YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport juniors Scoop Simon and Hanah Marshall were named the CAC Softball Players of the Week for April 6, 2015.

Christopher Newport junior Scoop Simon earned CAC Player of the Week honors after blasting three home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Salisbury on Saturday in a key battle for first place. In a 4-0 week for the Captains, Simon went 6-for-9 (.667) at the plate with eight RBIs, 11 runs scored, three homers and two doubles. She posted a .786 on-base percentage and an impressive 1.889 slugging percentage.

Christopher Newport junior Hanah Marshall was selected as the CAC Pitcher of the Week throwing two complete-game victories last week, including a 7-1 triumph over Salisbury. In the win over the second-ranked Sea Gulls, Marshall allowed only a seventh inning solo home run while scattering 10 hits. For the week, she totaled nine strikeouts and allowed just three earned runs for a 1.75 ERA.

Salisbury is ranked No. 2 and Christopher Newport No. 21 in the April 1 NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll ... With a doubleheader sweep over Salisbury on Saturday, Christopher Newport (8-0) is the only unbeaten team in CAC play and now has a stranglehold over first place ... Frostburg State's Renay Aubel hit .600 and slugged 1.300 on the week as the Bobcats finished 5-1 in conference play. Aubel had 12 hits (12-of-20), eight runs, 14 RBI and four homeruns ... Mary Washington senior Hannah Williams batted .538 for the week, with seven hits in 13 at bats. She posted a pair of doubles, driving in five runs and scoring four, with a .692 slugging average as the Eagles won three contests on the week ... Salisbury senior Rachel Johnson tossed her sixth career perfect game against Stevenson on Wednesday ... Wesley clinched its first winning season since 2001 with a split at Mary Washington. The split with UMW was the first-ever victory over the Eagles. The Wolverines have now matched the most wins since 2005 season ... York freshman Melissa Jurkiewicz went 4-0 in the circle last week, including a six-inning perfect game against Southern Virginia.
