Christopher Newport Junior Hannah Cook and Wesley Sophomore Lindsay Siok Claim CAC Softball Weekly Awards
YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Hannah Cook and Wesley sophomore Lindsay Siok were awarded as the CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 16, 2015.

Christopher Newport junior Hannah Cook received CAC Player of the Week honors after belting three home runs in 11 at-bats last week and finishing the week hitting .545. Cook drove in six runs and scored three times, including a 3-for-3 effort with a homer and four RBIs against Meredith. She finished the week with a 1.364 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage.

Wesley sophomore Lindsay Siok was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 with a 0.82 ERA last week. Siok struck out 21 batters in her 17 innings of work, allowing just five hits and two earned runs in the trio of victories. She twice posted a new career-high of nine strikeouts in wins over Division II Lincoln (Pa.) and Briarcliffe, and surrendered just one hit against Briarcliffe and Gallaudet.

Salisbury is ranked No. 2 and Christopher Newport No. 22 in the March 18 NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll ... CAC play opened up this past weekend with Penn State Harrisburg and Salisbury coming away with sweeps ... Christopher Newport's Hannah Marshall tossed three complete game victories for the Captains, winning against Meredith, Shenandoah and Eastern Mennonite. She struck out 13 in 21 innings of work and allowed just five earned runs for an ERA of 1.67 ... Hannah Tavik helped propel Frostburg State to a 7-2 record during its spring break trip to Myrtle Beach. In the circle, Tavik posted four wins, stuckout 22 batters and allowed just six earned runs. At the plate, she collected a hit in eight of the nine games and finished with a .536 batting average, seven RBIs, a triple and a home run ... Mary Washington sophomore Olivia Tatara hit .438 for the Eagles last week, with seven hits in 16 at bats, as the Eagles won three of six contests ... Penn State Harrisburg's Gabby Wolfe pitched a complete game in game one of the Lions' doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia on Saturday, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. She also blasted a home run at the plate ... Salisbury went 4-0 last week. Annah Brittingham recorded two of those wins, including a complete-game shutout on Saturday at Mary Washington. Paige Knussman drove in six runs last week for the Sea Gulls, including belting a three-run, go-ahead home run in the fourth inning of a 6-3 win against DePauw on Sunday ... Wesley has won a program-record nine straight games and is off to the best start in school history ... York sophomore Katie Maloney led the Spartans to a sweep over Hood in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday. Maloney hit .750 with two runs scored, two doubles, and an RBI.
