FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- York sophomore Justine Wantz claimed CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week accolades for the third time this year on Feb. 6, 2018.

York sophomore Justine Wantz claimed CAC Athlete of the Week accolades for the third time this year after winning a pair of events against Mary Washington on Saturday. Wantz raced to a time of 1:00.22 to earn gold in the 100 backstroke, and also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.55.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC swimming teams competed last week, wrapping up the regular season prior to the CAC Swimming Championships on Feb. 22-25 ... Mary Washington completed its sixth straight unbeaten CAC dual meet record with a 5-0 mark against CAC teams. York finished in second place during the regular season with a 4-1 mark ... Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was six-for-six in individual events last week. She swept the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles against both Elizabethtown and Marymount. Nitchie has swept all of her individual events in 10 of 11 meets. Frostburg State ended the regular season with wins over both E-town and Marymount ... St. Mary's freshman Anna LaPoint claimed top honors in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:17.95 vs. Salisbury. She also picked up second in the 100 backstroke by swimming a 1:03.31 and was a part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team that took first for the Seahawks ... Mary Washington sophomore Carley Vaughn capped the regular season with four victories in her hometown - two individual and two on relays - as Mary Washington defeated York, 154-108, on Saturday. She opened swimming the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay, which won at 1:50.84, and continued with individual wins in the 100 butterfly (1:00.70) and the 200 butterfly (2:12.39). She closed the day as part of the winning 400 freestyle relay at 3:42.47 ... Marymount junior Taylor Plumley registered two more first-place finishes in the regular-season finale at Frostburg on Saturday, grabbing first in the 800-meter free (10:14.23) and 400-meter free (4:58.73). She ranks in the top-10 in the CAC in four different freestyle events ... Salisbury freshman Jordyn Rowe collected both a first- and second-place finish on Saturday at St. Mary's. She finished second in the 100-yard individual medley, with a time of 1:07.74, before finishing her afternoon with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:00.03.
