St. Mary's Junior Tori Poffenberger and York Freshman Charlotte Wright Receive CAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's junior Tori Poffenberger and York freshman Charlotte Wright were selected as the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for Feb. 24, 2015.

St. Mary's junior Tori Poffenberger was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after opening up the 2015 campaign with a double hat trick in leading St. Mary's to an 18-12 season-opening win over Virginia Wesleyan. She tallied six goals and two assists for a career-best eight points on 8-for-9 shooting on goal while adding four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

York freshman Charlotte Wright was honored as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 10 saves in the Spartans' 5-4 double-overtime victory over Lebanon Valley last Wednesday. Wright made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut. After allowing two quick goals, she went on to notch 10 saves including one on a free position chance with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation. She stopped five free position attempts throughout the contest, finishing with a 71.4% save percentage.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Six CAC squads have opened their 2015 seasons, with St. Mary's and York starting 1-0 ... Two-time defending national champion Salisbury is ranked atop both the IWLCA Rankings and the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings, while York is 13th and 16th, respectively ... Mariah Ginebra led Christopher Newport with a career-high four caused turnovers and four ground balls against No. 12 Washington & Lee ... Senior Corinne Wiederkehr led Mary Washington to a 15-6 win at Shenandoah last week, scoring four goals and one assist. She added a pair of scores as the Eagles fell to No. 12 Washington & Lee on Monday, and leads the team with six goals and an assist on the year through two games ... York's Allison Kolacy scored  the game-winner with 3:01 left in the second overtime to lift the Spartans to their second straight season-opening overtime win over Lebanon Valley.
