YORK, Pa. -- York senior Darnell Tillman and Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery were chosen as the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 16, 2016.

York senior Darnell Tillman was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 200 meters at the Susquehanna Invitational last Friday. Tillman took top honors in the 200 with a time of 22.82. He also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.10 seconds. 

Field Athlete of the Week

Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery was named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after setting a CAC and school records in the shot put and claiming a pair of gold-medal placings at the Susquehanna Invitational. Lowery broke both the CAC record and his own school mark in the shot put with a throw of 55'-0.25", which ranks fifth in the nation. In the weight throw, he posted another victory with a toss of 50'-4.5".

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury is ranked No. 16 in the Week 3 USTFCCCA National Rankings ... Four CAC teams competed last week in final tune-ups for the upcomign CAC Indoor Championship meet ... The CAC Championship is set for Sunday, Feb. 21 at Christopher Newport ... Frostburg State's J.R. Lowery has now qualified for the ECAC Championships in each of the 10 events in which he has competed this season. He has six wins and hasn't finished outside of the top-10, despite competing against Division I and II competition every week, and he has set four schools marks ... Salisbury's Jarrell Young set a personal record in the 200 meters at the Susquehanna Invitational, while Andrew Volz notched sixth-place finishes in the weight throw and shot put for the Sea Gulls ... A small group of Wesley student-athletes traveled to Staten Island, N.Y. to compete in the Fast Track Invitational at Oceanbreeze Track last weekend. Though the competition was mainly NCAA Division I members, Wesley still had several solid showings as they built momentum for the CAC Indoor Championships ... York's Alex Palescandolo set a new school shot put record on Friday night at the Susquehanna Invitational, registering a best throw of 49'-3.75" to break his previous school record of 49'-.74". That record throw is the second best throw in the CAC this indoor season.
