Huber Paces Southern Virginia Women's Cross Country to First Place at Virginia Union Meet
Leah Huber placed second individually to lead the Southern Virginia women's cross country team to first place out of six competing teams at Virginia Union on Friday.
The Knights secured four of the top six placings and totaled 30 points to claim first place, defeating Hampton (58), Howard (61) for top honors. Huber took second with a time of 18:41.5, while Kaylee Upham (4th; 19:04.7), Rylee McKeon (5th; 19:05.1) and Samantha Geddes (6th; 19:12.7) also posted finishes in the top six.
On the men's side, Southern Virginia placed fifth in the seven-team field at Virginia Union. Jefferson Chandler led the way in 12th place with a time of 30:03.6 for the Knights.
Two other CAC squads were in action this past week - Wesley and St. Mary's.
On Thursday, Wesley competed at the Delaware State Farm Run Invitational, with both the men and women taking fourth out of seven teams. The Wolverines were the only Division III team in the meet. On the women's side Deunise Desir paced the squad, finishing 13th overall with a time of 21:02 for the 5k race. In the men's 8k race, Will Taylor navigated the course in 28:19 for a 13th place finish.
On Saturday, St. Mary's traveled to Center Valley, Pa. for the 33rd Annual DeSales Invitational. The Seahawk women tied for sixth with 243 points in the 17-team field, while the St. Mary's men took 8th among the 17 squads. Halycon Ruskin picked up a 33rd-place finish with a time of 25:57.19 to pace the women, while Aiden Hennessey was the top male finisher on the 8k course in 38th place at 28:32.81.
