Christopher Newport Secures Third Consecutive Women's Cross Country Title; York's Alicia Dillman Wins Individual Crown
Christopher Newport placed five runners in the top-10 to secure its third straight CAC Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum in St. Leonard, Md, while York junior Alicia Dillman raced to the individual crown, besting the second-place runner by over 20 seconds.
CNU tallied just 25 points with finishes 2-3-5-7-8 to claim first place, followed by York (48) and Mary Washington (89) in the top three. Salisbury (123) and Marymount (127) had a close battle for fourth place, while Southern Virginia (153), Wesley (205), St. Mary's (215) and Frostburg State (258) rounded out the team scoring.
York's Dillman ran away with the individual title in the 6k, posting a time of 22:42.5 to win by over 20 seconds. The CNU duo of Lydia Cromwell (23:03.3) and Logan Harrington (23:05.2) finished second and third, respectively, while York's Jessica Delviscio (23:22.5) and CNU's Abigail May (23:24.0) also recorded top-five placings.
Graciela Slyer (7th/23:28.3) and Briana Stewart (8th/23:29.9) also placed in the top-10 for CNU, helping the Captains cruise to the team crown.
Marymount's Gina Reyes led the Saints in sixth place with a mark of 23:26.9. Other top-10 finishers included York's Kathleen Cannon in ninth and Mary Washington's Claudia Autore in 10th.
Southern Virginia's Leah Huber narrowly missed the top-10 in 11th place, while other top finishers included CNU's Emmie Schmitt (12th), UMW's Emily Knerr (13th), York's Jenna Roberts (14th), and the Salisbury duo of Jamie Farley (15th) and Laura Hartman (16th).
