Mary Washington Falls to Carnegie Mellon in NCAA Women's Tennis Second Round

The 15th-ranked Mary Washington women's tennis team fell to 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 5-2, on Saturday in Williamstown, Mass. in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Eagles close the season with a 20-6 record.

UMW fell at three doubles to open the team scoring, as Caroline Mosberg and Danielle Mirabella dropped an 8-2 deicison to Jamie Vizelman and Katie Lai. The Eagles knotted the score, as Kait Brogan and Taylor Diffley won at one, 8-5, over Nicholle Torres and Cori Sidell. The Eagles won the deciding doubles point, with Ashley Barrow and Rachel Summers winning at two, 8-6, over Vinaya Rao and Courtney Ollis.

In singles, the Eagles fell behind after one set at one, two, three, and four. Diffley dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at two to Sidell, and Mosberg dropped a tight 6-4, 7-5 decision at four to Rao. Summers fell, 6-4, 6-4, at three to Vizelman, and Brogan lost at one, 6-3, 7-5, to Torres.
