Mary Washington Sweeps Golds, Earns 24th Straight CAC Women's Swimming Crown; UMW's Kerico, Cox Earn Co-Athlete of the Year Honors

Sunday's Results 

Mary Washington swept the gold-medal finishes in each of the 18 events throughout the weekend, securing its 24th-straight CAC Women's Swimming Championship on Sunday with a three-day total of 1,032 points.

Host St. Mary's took second with 536 points, followed in the team standings by York (444), Marymount (410), Salisbury (322) and Frostburg State (221). 

UMW swept the individual athlete awards as senior Amber Kerico and sophomore Abby Cox were honored as Co-Athletes of the Year, while freshman Anna Corley claimed Rookie of the Year accolades. A trio of head coaches shared Coach of the Year honors - Mary Washington's Abby Brethauer, York's Erin Kurtz and Frostburg State's Justin Anderson

Kerico compiled five golds throughout the weekend, including the 200 breastroke title on Sunday, touching in 2:20.01.
Cox earned her fourth top finish of the Championships on Sunday, winning the 200 butterfly at 2:11.89. 
Mary Washington senior Jessica Singer opened Sunday's events with a record-breaking performance in the 1650 freestyle, besting her own CAC record by nearly 17 seconds with a mark of 17:14.58. The victory was Singer's third individual and fourth overall gold at the meet. 
Senior Catherine Perrin then turned in a time of 2:06.72 to capture the 200 backstroke title for UMW, before Steph Hallock recorded her first individual gold and third overall top finish of the Championships in the 100 freestyle at 52.92. 
After wins from Kerico and Cox, the UMW 400 freestyle relay squad of freshman Shannon Coryell, Hallock, Singer and senior Tara Banks completed the gold-medal sweep for the Eagles, touching in 3:33.59.
