Kerico's Three Golds Pace Mary Washington on Day Two of CAC Women's Swimming Championships
Amber Kerico recorded three first-place finishes while Abby Cox and Jessica Singer each nabbed their second golds of the weekend as Mary Washington claimed top honors in all seven events on day two of the CAC Women's Swimming Championships on Saturday at St. Mary's.
Mary Washington sits atop the standings with 698 points, followed by St. Mary's (364), York (288), Marymount (281), Salisbury (216) and Frostburg State (153).
Kerico turned in a pair of top individual finishes and a relay gold, securing individual gold in the 100 butterfly (57.05) and 100 breastroke (1:05.04) while also teaming up for the win in the 200 medley relay. Cox won the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.41 to grab gold for the second straight day, while Singer also claimed her second top placing of the Championships with a mark of 1:54.00 in the 200 freestyle.
Katie Fago registered the other individual victory for the Eagles, taking top honors in the 100 backstroke after touching the wall in 59.00.
Mary Washington opened the day with a win in the 200 medley relay as Fago, Kerico, Hannah Hagy and Steph Hallock posted a time of 1:45.69. The Eagles closed out the day's competition with another relay win as the team of Ashley Walnut, Cox, Tara Banks and Singer secured the win in the 800 freestyle relay.
The third and final day of the CAC Championships begins with Sunday morning's trials at 10 a.m., concluding with the finals at 6 p.m.
