Four CAC Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn All-Region Recognition
Four CAC women's soccer players were named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Atlantic Region team.
A pair of student-athletes from Christopher Newport landed on the all-region second team, with senior forward Bupe Okeowo and junior midfielder Joy Piirto claiming the honor. Okeowo was tied atop the conference in both goals (14) and points (32) on her way to CAC Player of the Year honors. The duo helped guide the Captains to the CAC regular season title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in their first year in the conference.
Salisbury sophomore defender Tabitha Brown and York junior goalkeeper Melanie Glessner made their way onto the all-region third team. Brown and Glessner helped spearhead the two most efficient defensive units the CAC this past fall.
Glessner lead a Spartan defense that captured the CAC championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, posting a 0.64 goals against average and 70 saves in her 20 games played. Brown led the Sea Gull defense that finished second in the CAC in goals allowed (15) and goals-against average (0.71).
