SU’s Dunbar, CNU’s Morrison Claim C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2026 women's lacrosse season. Salisbury's Avery Dunbar claimed C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Brookelyn Morrison received as C2C Defensive Player of the Week merit.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avery Dunbar, Salisbury
Salisbury sophomore Avery Dunbar led the Sea Gulls to a pair of wins with 11 points for the week. She recorded a career-high six points with three goals and three assists in season-opening win over Stevenson. Dunbar followed up at Catholic with one goal and four assists for five points in a 17-9 win.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brookelyn Morrison, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport senior Brookelyn Morrison tied the single-game school record with eight caused turnovers during a 23-2 win against Berry on February 13. Against the Vikings, she had six takeaways in the first half before adding two more at the start of the third quarter, which punctuated her historic appearance. Half of her caused turnovers came in transition as CNU held the opposition to a 6-for-19 showing on clears. Berry's 13 failed attempts marked the most by an opponent since 2016, while Christopher Newport's 24 total caused turnovers were the fourth-most in school history. In addition to her work on the defensive end, Morrison also recorded a game-high six ground balls to go along with six draw controls and five points.

DEFENSE: Abby Fleishell, Salisbury
C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Faith O'Connor matched her career-high with five goals while finishing with six total points during a 23-2 win over Berry on February 13. Helping the Captains jump out to an early advantage, she scored four of the game's first six goals in just nine minutes of action. Later, she added an assist in the opening quarter before notching her final strike in the third period. Overall, her five goals equaled the most by a Captain in a season opener since 2013, while her six points were the most in a lid-lifter since 2023. Aided by O'Connor's work, CNU eventually finished with 23 total goals, which matched the sixth-highest total in school history… Salisbury's Abby Fleishell caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls vs. Stevenson. Picked up another two ground balls against Catholic. Helped hold opponents to a combined 14 goals over two games last week, picked up seven draw controls.
