Salisbury Women's Basketball Storms Past Amherst Into NCAA Elite Eight
The Salisbury women's basketball team defeated Amherst 63-68 on Friday afternoon to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
This marks just the fourth time in CAC history that a conference team has made it to the quarterfinal round and the first since Mary Washington in 2012.
The Sea Gulls (28-2) will face off against host and No. 7 Montclair State (29-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. with a spot in the Final Four at stake. Montclair State defeated No. 16 Bowdoin 61-54 in the other sectional semifinal.
Senior Anna Hackett scored a game-high 29 points to pace the Sea Gulls in the back-and-forth contest. Sarah Seipp dropped in 16 points, including 11 in the second half.
