Salisbury Women's Basketball's Historic Season Comes to a Close in Elite Eight
A record-breaking season for the Salisbury women's basketball team came to an end on Saturday night as the 11th-ranked Sea Gulls fell to No. 7 Montclair State 68-44 in the NCAA Elite Eight at the Panzer Athletic Center in Montclair, N.J.
The Sea Gulls conclude with a school-record 28 wins, a 28-3 overall record and their fourth CAC title in program history.
Montclair State started strong in the first half, jumping out to a 30-12 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first stanza. Salisbury cut the deficit to 11 with a run of its own, but the Sea Gulls were unable to cut the deficit to less than double digits the rest of the game.
Sarah Seipp led the Sea Gulls with 13 points and six rebounds, while Julia McLaughlin posted 10 points and eight boards. Montclair State's Melissa Tobie tallied game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Red Hawks to the Final Four.
