The CAC's Top 2 Women's Basketball Teams - Mary Washington And York - Picked For NCAA Division III Championship Tournament

The top two women's basketball teams in the CAC during the regular season - Mary Washington and York - were among the 64 teams selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The seventh-ranked Eagles (27-0) captured the 2012 CAC Championship Saturday with a 50-46 victory over York (22-5).  That earned UMW an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Tournament - the Eagles' seventh national championship tournament appearance in the last eight years.

Mary Washington will serve as a weekend host for the first two rounds (Friday/Saturday).  The Eagles will play Keuka (20-5) Friday.  The other half of Friday's first-round DH will feature Messiah (21-5) against Kean (22-5).  Friday's winners will meet in Saturday's second-round game at UMW.

York, which finished second in the regular season, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four years.  Juniata College will serve as host for the weekend that starts with Friday's first-round classes pitting York against St. Vincent (22-6) and Castleton State (22-5) against host Juniata.  Friday's winners will meet Saturday at Juniata for the right to advance to the 2012 Sweet 16.

More information will be available later on the CAC and institutional websites.
