Runners for about 10 years, coached by Jeff
Grissler, then I went to Point Borough High School in New
Jersey and played varsity for three years, and now I am a senior
for Wesley College.

Briefly
describe the most memorable experience during your collegiate
athletic career. I don’t have one
specific memory - every day I have been a college athlete has been
a memorable experience. I am very grateful for all of my teammates,
and coaches who put up with me. Beating Mary Washington at home my
sophomore year was memorable, as was making it to the ECAC
championship game in 2009.
What is the most
important societal issue facing college
students? The most important societal issue
facing college students is being on their own for the first time,
and time management. Students need to be able to balance social
life and school work.
If you could
change any one item in the world (in your personal life, school,
community, amateur or professional sports, national/international
issue, etc.), what would it be, why, and how would you do
it? I would find a cure for cancer,
because this would save millions of people’s lives.
What is your
major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned
in that discipline? My major is
Exercise Science, I have learned all about the human body and how
it works. Now at my internship at Lifestyles Fitness Center, I have
been implementing everything I have learned in the classroom. I
have learned how to assess clients, run them through fitness
evaluations, and make individualized fitness programs.
Other than your
family members, who was the most influential person in your
life? The most influential person in my
life was my stepmom, Nancy Harrigan-Boyd. She has
been a huge influence because for the last seven years she was
fighting breast cancer. She was only 49 years old and just lost her
battle with cancer in November 2010. In the last 12 years she has
been in my life, she always had a smile on her face. She never once
felt bad for herself, and she always put others before herself.
Nancy helped raise my brother and I. She was a very strong woman,
she taught me to never give up on anything. I dedicate my senior
season to her.
I love you, Nancy Harrigan-Boyd!
If you could give
one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that
advice be? Don't let anyone ever tell
you that you CAN'T do something. Always work hard, and follow your
dreams!

favorite form of entertainment? Going
to the movies with my boyfriend – that’s very relaxing
and fun!
Outside of the
Capital Athletic Conference, who or what is your favorite sports
person or team? My favorite team is the
Philadelphia Phillies because they're my boyfriend’s favorite
team, so they have become one of my favorite teams to watch, and I
love Cole Hamels!
Name three (3)
people, real or fictional, living or dead, that you'd like to have
dinner with? I’d like to have dinner with
Will Ferrell, because he is hysterical,
Chris Paul, because he is one of the best point
guard’s in the NBA and Nancy (my stepmom), because I miss
her.
