Marymount, York And Wesley Clinch Home Games In Upcoming CAC Women's Basketball Playoffs

Marymount And York won their regular-season ending outings to clinch home games in the upcoming CAC women's basketball playoffs. 

The Saints outdueled host Stevenson Saturday, 59-50, to gain the second seed in the CAC playoffs while York locked up the third seed and knocked Salisbury out of playoff contention with a 64-56 decision.

Despite losing at regular-season champ Mary Washington Saturday (61-48), Wesley will also host a playoff contest by virtue of its tiebreaker advantage vs. Frostburg State, which defeated playoff-bound St. Mary's to close out the regular season, 83-65.

As the top two seeds, UMW and Marymount will gain first-round byes in the six-team playoffs and host semifinal games Thursday (2/24) at 7 p.m. 

Top-seeded Mary Washington (20-5, 15-1 CAC) will host the winner of Tuesday's #5 Frostburg State at #4 Wesley first-round contest (6 p.m.).  FSU (12-13, 9-7 CAC) and Wesley (14-11, 9-7 CAC) finished in a tie for fourth place and split their regular-season showdowns, but the Wolverines gain the home game by virtue of a regular-season win over Marymount.

Second-seeded Marymount (13-9, 11-5 CAC) will host the winner of Tuesday's #6 St. Mary's (11-13, 7-9 CAC) at #3 York (13-12, 10-6 CAC) first-round contest (6 p.m.).

The 2011 CAC champion will be crowned, and secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, on Feb. 26, at the home court of the higher-seeded team in the game (2 p.m.).
