UCSC's Stanciu, CNU’s Eley Tabbed C2C Women's Track Athletes of the Week
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of the 2025-26 track and field season. UC Santa Cruz's Elena Stanciu claimed C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Ashley Eley was named C2C Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Elena Stanciu, UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz junior Elena Stanciu continued to be a standout performer for the Banana Slugs, running a 4:27.42 to take 20th in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Stanciu's time remains a top 11 mark in the country this season.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ashley Eley, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport junior Ashley Eley made history in the high jump during the New Captains Classic on Friday. In the event, she set a new personal-best with a 1.63-meter clearance. That marked the third-highest leap in program history and the finest effort by a conference competitor since 2022. Additionally, it moved her to 27th on this year's national charts. Aided by her work in the high jump, in addition to PRs in the javelin (24.20 meters), shot put (8.85 meters), and long jump (5.33 meters), Eley posted a score of 4,231 in the heptathlon, which bumped her to 35th on the national leaderboard and was the seventh-best total in school history.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Ellie Nuckols set a new school record in the heptathlon while starring in the combined event over the weekend at the New Captains Classic. During the competition, she registered a score of 4,832, which broke the previous standard of 4,733 set by CNU Hall of Famer Briana Sutton in 2017. That total also launched her to 10th on this year's national leaderboard. Headlining her historic efforts, she posted a time of 2:19.70 in the 800, which was the ninth-fastest clocking in school history. She also climbed to 10th on the program's all-time leaderboard and jumped to 34th in the nation in the 100-hurdles after finishing in 14.66. Rounding out her record-setting appearance on the track, Nuckols also notched a PR in the 200 (25.55). Meanwhile, in field disciplines, her 1.60-meter clearance in the high jump was the seventh highest in school history. Additionally, she capped off her performance with a PR in the javelin (23.32 meters) as well as marks of 5.38 meters in the long jump and 9.98 meters in the shot put… Mary Washington freshman Anijah James topped her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the University of Virginia on Saturday, finishing in 28th place in the mainly Division I meet with a record time of 14.59… Regent's Kristi Moser won the 100-hurdles and broke the school record with a time of 15.30 at this weekend's Eastern Shore Challenge at Salisbury. In addition, she was a member of the 4 x 100 Relay team that broke their own school record with a time of 52.62 seconds… Salisbury's Karia Forvil, the Pocomoke City, Md. native, won the 100-meter dash in 12.15 and was also a part of 4x100-meter relay team that captured the title with a time of 47.74 at the Salisbury University Eastern Shore Challenge… Salisbury's Kaitlyn Stevens won the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters, at the Salisbury University Eastern Shore Challenge. She placed second in the long jump (5.19m), and in the triple jump (10.55m)…
UC Santa Cruz's Kailey Leba won the javelin at the Hartnell College meet over the weekend, throwing 34.95m.
