UCSC’s Gainant, Hofstetter Sweep C2C Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Recognition
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 11th week of the 2025-26 track and field season. UC Santa Cruz's Arthur Gainant was named C2C Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while the Banana Slugs Evan Hofstetter captured C2C Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Arthur Gainant, UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz sophomore Arthur Gainant turned in a 10.73 second 100m race at the Chico Invitational over the weekend. The effort ranks first on the program's record list and placed in second in the prelims at Chico and later third with a 10.85. Notably, Gainant's time is 88th in the country so far this season.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Evan Hofstetter, UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz junior Evan Hofstetter, fresh off his All-American performance at the NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships last month, brought the momentum to the Bryan Clay Multi Event. He opened the decathlon with a 10.74 performance in the 100 meters. Hofstetter followed up the strong start with a 7.16m jump in long jump before throwing 10.77m in shot put. Hofstetter cleared 1.83m in high jump and later dropped a blistering 48.13 second 400m to end the day with 3,859 points. Hofstetter picked up right where he left off for day two, going sub 17 in the 110m hurdles (16.98). In the discus, he threw 33.90m and jumped 3.90m in pole vault. Hofstetter later threw 42.08m in javelin before flying to the finish line in the 1500m with a time of 4:21.02 to win the meet with 6894 points. Impressively, Hofstetter's long jump stands as the 18th best jump in NCAA Division III while his decathlon score is the third best mark.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Andrew Janetsky made his collegiate debut in the 10,000 and won the race at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on Friday evening at Lynchburg. During the competition, he topped the field with a time of 32:04.03. That marked the seventh-fastest clocking in school history… Christopher Newport's Daniel Young won the shot put at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on Saturday at Lynchburg. During the event, he added eight inches onto his previous PR while posting a 16.08-meter distance. That marked the longest throw in the league this year and elevated him to 28th on the NCAA leaderboard. Additionally, it moved him to third on Christopher Newport's all-time performance list.
