SU’s Smith, CNU’s Morris Garner C2C Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Recognition

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2025-26 track and field season. Salisbury's Kai Smith earned C2C Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Seth Morris picked up C2C Men's Field Athlete of the Week merit.

 

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kai Smith, Salisbury

Salisbury senior Kai Smith took home gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.50 at the Blue & Silver Challenge inside Townebank Stadium. Smith also placed first in the 200-meter with a time of 20.91. Both times placed him in the top six in the country, while the 200 time sits first.

 

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Seth Morris, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Seth Morris swept a pair of throwing events during the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. In the hammer throw, he established a new personal-best with a 53.06-meter toss. That marked the fifth-longest heave in school history and moved him to 22nd on this year's NCAA leaderboard. Later, he also won the shot put with a 15.39-meter launch. That bumped him to 32nd in the nation and was the third-best throw of his career. In the end, Morris took over the top spot on the league leaderboard in both disciplines as well.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Evan Young won the 1500 during the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. In the race, the senior crossed the line in 4:05.21, which was the third-fastest clocking of his career. It also marked his first career victory in the 1500… Kevin Cropper set a Regent outdoor record in the high jump event at the CNU Blue and Silver challenge. His jump of 1.96m earned him 1st place overall which is his second event win of the outdoor season… Salisbury's Logan Kelsch grabbed gold in the discus throw at 48.69 meters (159-09). He also tallied third at 47.25 meters (155-00) in the hammer throw at the Blue & Silver Challenge inside Townebank Stadium on the campus of Christopher Newport University.
