The Salisbury and Christopher Newport softball teams are set to renew their intense rivalry this weekend, as CNU travels to the SU Softball Field for a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional, beginning Friday at 4 p.m. 

The two sides will then meet on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the decisive third game slated for 3:30 p.m., if necessary. The winner of the series will be one of eight squads to advance to the National Championship next week in Salem, Va. 

Salisbury (32-6) is ranked fourth in the nation and advanced to the Super Regional with triumphs over McDaniel and Virginia Wesleyan in its three-team regional last weekend. 

CNU (30-7) is ranked 11th in the country and defeated Salem and Randolph-Macon last weekend at its regional at Captains Park. 

In three meetings this season, CNU owns a 3-0 mark against the Sea Gulls, including a 7-4 victory in the CAC Championship game on April 18. 

This weekend's Super Regional marks a rematch of last year, where Salisbury defeated the Captains twice to advance to the eight-team National Championship round.
