Three CAC Softball Players Named To 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Teams
Three CAC softball players - Salisbury's Michelle Gravdahl along with York's Karen Carr and Michelle Barwick - were named to the 2011 Capital One Academic College Division All-District team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Gravdahl, a sophomore catcher, and Carr, a senior outfielder, were named to the Capital One College Division All-District II first team and will advance to the national Academic All-America ballot. Barwick was a second-team District II infield choice.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America program, a player must be at least a sophomore in class rank with a 3.30 or better cumulative grade point average. College Division District II includes all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA players from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Gravdahl, a two-time CAC all-star and 2010 Rookie of the Year, is a nursing major with a 3.68 grade point average.
Carr, who gained first-team All-CAC recognition this season, is an accounting major with a 3.77 GPA.
Barwick, a second-team All-CAC selection by the conference coaches, is a business administration major with a 3.78 GPA.
