2025 C2C Men's and Women's Cross Country Awards Revealed
The 2025 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Men's and Women's Cross Country awards have been announced. The following are this year's honorees, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Men's Runner of the Year: Luke Holland, UC Santa Cruz
Holland headlined the individual awards for the second consecutive year after capping his senior season with All-American honors. He won the C2C Championships (24:12.3) for the second straight year while leading the Banana Slugs to their fifth successive title. He finished fourth at the NCAA West Regional and 25th at the NCAA Division III Championships
Men's Rookie of the Year: Andrew Mysliwiec, UC Santa Cruz
Mysliwiec was named rookie of the year after finishing 17th at the conference championships. At the NCAA West Regional, he placed 66th. During the season, Mysliwiec became the fourth fastest freshman in Banana Slug history with his performance at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Kevin Farnsworth, Christopher Newport
Farnsworth, a computer science major, earned scholar-athlete honors. He placed 33rd at the C2C Championships and had a career-best 8k time at regionals.
Men's Coaching Staff of the Year: David Klech, UC Santa Cruz
For the fifth straight year, Klech earned coach of the year recognition. He led the Banana Slugs to a fifth consecutive C2C Championship and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA West Regional. Additionally, Luke Holland and Camden Jaureguy earned at-large selections in the NCAA Championships finishing 25th and 111th, respectively.
Women's Runner of the Year: Elena Stanciu, UC Santa Cruz
Stanciu topped the individual awards after winning the 6k individual title (21:12.7) at the C2C Championships which ranks second all-time for UCSC at Baylands Park. At the NCAA West Regional, she earned All-Region honors with a fifth-place effort to lead the Banana Slugs. Stanciu helped the team place fifth at regionals to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships. She finished 157th at nationals.
Women's Rookie of the Year: Fiona Wolf, UC Santa Cruz
Wolf claimed second team All-C2C honors with a 16th place finish at the conference championships to receive rookie of the year honors. She placed 49th at the NCAA West Regional and was the fourth freshman across the line to help the Banana Slug qualify for the NCAA Championships. At nationals, Wolf finished 262nd. During the season, she became the fourth fastest freshman in Banana Slug history with her effort at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Helena Janku, UC Santa Cruz
Janku, an environmental studies and policy and legal studies major, received scholar-athlete distinction for the second straight year. She was the recipient of the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete award at the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship. Janku is the first Banana Slug to capture this prestigious honor which recognizes the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. She placed third at the C2C Championships and 17th at the NCAA West Regional to earn her third all-region honor. Additionally, Janku became the first female in Banana Slug Cross Country to compete at four NCAA Cross Country Championships and finished 214th.
Women's Coaching Staff of the Year: David Klech, UC Santa Cruz
Klech garnered coach of the year honors for the fifth straight year. He guided the Banana Slugs to the C2C title and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA West Regional. UCSC, who earned an at-large team bid, placed 31st at the NCAA Championships.
