Christopher Newport’s Janetsky, Dake Claim C2C Cross Country Athletes of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2025 cross country season.  Christopher Newport's Andrew Janetsky was named C2C Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, while the Captains Sarah Dake captured C2C Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.


MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Janetsky, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport sophomore Andrew Janetsky led the Captains at the 51st Annual Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University's Goodman Cross Country Course. During the meet, he posted a time of 25:30.7, which marked the second-fastest 8K time of his career. It also shaved over a minute off his course PR of 26:35.7, which he set during last year's competition. Facing a field that included 40 regionally ranked teams and 11 nationally ranked programs, he eventually placed 73rd in the White Division of the meet.


WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Sarah Dake, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport sophomore Sarah Dake led the Captains at the 51st Annual Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University's Goodman Cross Country Course. During the meet, she established a new 6K PR after wrapping up the competition in 22:27.4. That also marked the 11th-fastest time in school history and established a new course PR by over 70 seconds. Facing a field that included 40 regionally ranked teams and 14 nationally ranked foes, she eventually finished 65th in the White Division of the meet.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Sophomore Nicholas Smerlis led Mary Washington's men to a second-place finish among 35 schools in the green division race at the Paul Short Run in Lehigh, PA, on Friday. Smerlis finished in 16th place, with a time of 26:29.4… Ethan Vahle led the way for UC Santa Cruz, running a 26:05.0 to take 16th place at the Pacific Invitational 8K on Friday evening… Mary Washington's Lily Hoffman finished in 10th place in the green division race at the Paul Short Run on Friday in Lehigh, Pa., as the Eagles finished seventh among 34 schools. Hoffman crossed the line with a time of 22:56.1… Regent's Louise Monga-Richard finished first overall (22:09.37) at the Ben Snelling Cancer Classic 5K in Louisburg, NC. She is the first Regent runner to ever finish first overall in a meet. She also helped the Royals win as a team for the first time in school history… Rosey Harris led the way for UC Santa Cruz, storming through the 6k in 22:55.8 to take seventh place overall at the Pacific Invitational.
