Salisbury’s Dutton, Christopher Newport’s Dake Named C2C Cross Country Athletes of the Week
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2025 cross country season. Salisbury's Tristan Dutton claimed C2C Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Sarah Dake was named C2C Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Tristan Dutton, Salisbury
Salisbury senior Tristan Dutton led the Sea Gulls to a first-place finish at the Salisbury University Fall Classic, earning second individually with a time of 25:21.90. The Sea Gulls as a team finished above Rowan and Navy in the 8K.
WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Sarah Dake, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport junior Sarah Dake became the first Captain to run a sub-15-minute 4k in program history after leading CNU at the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday at Pole Green Park. During the race, the junior finished in 14:35.1, which cut 31 seconds off the old school record of 15:06.1 set by Mae Savoie at the same meet on September 3, 2022. It also shaved nearly a minute off Dake's old PR of 15:27.3. In the end, her clocking was the top mark by a Division III runner on Saturday and placed her 27th overall at the meet.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Andrew Janetsky set a new school record in the 6k during the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday at Pole Green Park. During the competition, the sophomore completed the course in 18:43.2, which shaved 14 seconds off the old school standard set by Ray Gamache in 2011. It also sliced over 30 seconds off Janetsky's previous PR set last year at the same competition. Overall, his clocking was the top mark by a Division III competitor at the meet by 32 seconds and ranked 25th among all runners on Saturday… Warren Wilson's Deshawn Hamilton posted a time of 28:38.6 at the Eye Opener Meet in Spartanburg, S.C. He finished 86th in the 8K event to lead the Owls in his first collegiate competition… Andrew Mysliwiec led the way for UC Santa Cruz, crossing the line in 25:51.5 to take 57th at the USF Invitational to start the 2025 season… Salsibury's Anna Bodmer, the Dickerson, Md. native, earned a 3rd-place finish at the Salisbury University Fall Classic, only finishing behind runners from Navy and Rowan. Bodmer posted a time of 21:48.00 on the 6k course… UC Santa Cruz's Ronni Strzynski paced the team at the USF Invitational, finishing in 36th place with a time of 22:17.8, standing as the only Banana Slug in the top 50 overall.
