Salisbury's Ryan Jackson Finished Third Individually, But Mary Washington Finishes Third In The Team Standings At The Gettysburg Men's Cross Country Invitational

Salisbury sophomore Ryan Jackson proved again Saturday at Gettysburg that he may be the individual to beat in the upcoming CAC men's cross country championship race, but Mary Washington's impressive third-place team finish was the best among conference teams in the event.

Jackson (27:12) led the way for all CAC runners, finishing third out of 347 runners. Jackson has finished in the top three of every race thus far.  

In the team standings, Mary Washington finished third among 31 schools with 158 points.   Salisbury placed eighth with 226 points, followed by St. Mary's (18th, 560 pts.) and Frostburg State (26th, 807 pts.).

UMW, which defeated several NCAA Division II teams, was led by Stephen Harrison in 16th place at 27:59, followed by Daniel Ache in 35th place at 28:38 and Chris Marino in 36th place at 28:39. Kyle Anderson took 40th place overall at 28:45, and Sean Healy rounded out the top five by placing 47th at 28:56.

Other top 50 runners for Salisbury included He was followed in 26th place by senior David Toller, who finished in 26th place in a time of 28:21, and freshman Alex Arias, who crossed the finish line in 28:33 to take 33rd place.

At the NCAA Division I Delaware State Classic, Wesley placed third at the DSU Outreach & Research Farm.   Richard Feeney led the Wolverines on the 5,000-meter course in seventh place in a time of 17:12.27.  Michael Liegey joined him in top 10, claiming ninth place in 18:00.00.  Alex Dello Buono finished 11th, 51 seconds behind Liegey.  Terry Harens-Walgreen ran a 19:17.52 to finish 13th.  Mike Mango rounded out the Wolverines with a 22:13.65, good for 18th.

At the Goucher Classic, York took fourth place in the team's final tune-up for the CAC Championships, slated for Saturday, October 29, at York County's John Rudy Park.

As he has done throughout the campaign, sophomore standout Tim Hartung once again paced the Spartan runners. Hartung posted a 29:15.80 to take 19th overall out of 72 competitors, as 12 of the top 13 runners were from the U.S. Naval Academy. John Wallace completed the course just one slot and .60 seconds behind Hartung, as he put up a 29:16.40.
