What is your background in the sport you play? I started running freshmen year of high school. Both my older sister and brother ran, so I was drawn to the sport from them. I enjoy the beauty, and ruthlessness of competition.
Other than your team, what organization (s) do you participate in? Other than intercollegiate cross country and track, I work at the University Fitness center, and take part in the international events given on campus.
What is your major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned in that discipline? I'm majoring in English. Probably the most important lesson I've learned in English, is that anything is possible, if you're clever enough.
Other than your family members, who was the most influential person in your life? The most influential person in my life would have to be my old high school teammate and mentor JD Rojas. He taught me how to work hard, and how to persevere.
If you could give one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that advice be? One piece of advice I'd have to give elementary school kids is, live it up. They will miss and yearn for those innocent and carefree days when they're older.
What is your favorite form of entertainment? My favorite form of entertainment would be slow or fast dancing, at semi formal gatherings. Such activities cleanse the soul as few acts can.
Outside of the Capital Athletic Conference, who or what is your favorite sports person or team? Besides the Mary Washington cross country team, I'd say, like most red blooded Virginians, that my favorite team is the Washington Redskins. Their unpredictability and tenacity are unrivaled.
Name three (3) people, real or fictional, living or dead, that you'd like to have dinner with. The three people in this world, dead, or alive, that I would eat dinner with are author Salman Rushdie, distance running standout Hicham El Guerrouj and author Oscar Wilde. Rushdie's works set a standard that few if any have ever reached. To meet such a man would be an honor. El Guerrouj, he would have some pretty wild race stories. Wilde - just to find out why he is like he is. Those who have read his novels will understand.
