INTRODUCING ... University Of Mary Washington Senior Track & Field Thrower Nate Boyarsky
University of Mary Washington senior Nate Boyarsky, this week’s featured CAC INTRODUCING … student-athlete, was busy in the field events at this weekend’s conference track & field championships, helping the Eagles place second in the team standings. Boyarsky placed fourth in the javelin, sixth in the discus and eighth in the hammer throw. He’s also busy contributing in campus and community activities.
What is your background in the sport you play? I’ve competed for 6 years now and helped volunteer coach my high school track team.
Other than your team, in what organization (s) do you participate? I am a Campus Recreation supervisor and a SAAC representative at the University of Mary Washington.
What is your major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned in that discipline? I am a Business Administration major, and I’ve learned that critical thinking about company financials and external influences and vital for success.
Other than your family members, who was the most influential person in your life? My high school track and field coach, Yvonne Grimes. She taught me to be responsible for my actions and to try to make a difference in my community.
If you could give one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that advice be? Do not fear defeat, it happens to even the best of us.
What is your favorite form of entertainment? I enjoy music. It changes my state of mind to whatever I want it to to - sad to happy, quiet to outgoing, and so on.
Outside of the Capital Athletic Conference, who or what is your favorite sports person or team? Ray Lewis is my favorite NFL football player and the Ravens are my favorite team. I like Ray Lewis because whenever he plays he gives his all. He plays with more intensity than any other football player.

dinner with? Jan
Zelezny, World Record holder for Javelin. I would like to
have dinner with him because he has achieved so much for the sport
of javelin, a sport that I am very passionate about.
Warren Buffet. I'd like to have dinner with him
because he is a brilliant man when it comes to finance and that is
the career field that I wish to pursue.
Bob Marley. He is one of my favorite artists and
was a firm believer in the good of mankind. I would love to sit
down and talk about his views of the world and society.
