CAC Men's Tennis Players Bow Out at NCAA Individual Championships
The CAC doubles tandems of Tyler Carey and Evan Charles (Mary Washington) and Daniel Albers and Eric Spangler (Salisbury) bowed out of the NCAA Doubles Championships in Thursday's opening round, while Carey also fell in singles competition.
Carey, facing eighth seeded Oliver Lutsenko of Skidmore, fell 6-3, 6-4. Carey and Charles then fought to three sets against the fourth seed, Eric Klawitter and Chris Krimbill, of Case Western Reserve, before falling, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.
The Salisbury duo of Albers and Spangler dropped their first round match to Timmy Berg and Pierre Planche of Bates College, 6-1, 6-2. Albers and Spangler came into the match with a 17-0 record but were unable to match up with the duo from Bates. With the win, Berg and Planche improve to 14-4 on the season.
