NCAA Singles Bracket | NCAA Doubles Bracket
A quartet of CAC men's tennis players are set to compete for the ultimate prize - a national championship - at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships this week.
Mary Washington's Tyler Carey is the lone CAC player to qualify for the singles draw, while the top doubles teams from both UMW and Salisbury will also vie for national titles. Carey and Evan Charles will compete for Mary Washington, while the Salisbury doubles tandem of Daniel Albers and Eric Spangler also earned a bid into the national tournament.
The individual championships begin on Thursday and last through Saturday at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
In singles play, Carey, the two-time CAC Player of the Year, holds a 17-12 overall mark. He is making his second straight appearance in the field. One of 32 singles players selected for the national championships, Carey enters the tournament unseeded and will face off against eighth-seeded Oliver Loutsenko from Skidmore in the opening round.
Carey and Charles enter the 16-team doubles field with a 19-11 overall mark. The duo will face the fourth-seeded Eric Klawitter and Chris Krimbill (15-3) from Case Western Reserve in the first round of play.
The Salisbury doubles duo of Albers and Spangler posted an unblemished 17-0 mark throughout the season, and will meet Timmy Berg and Pierre Planche from Bates. Berg and Planche enter the tournament with a 13-4 record.
