Wesley Men's Soccer Draws ECAC Playoff Bid

The Wesley College men's soccer team will get to continue its 2008 season in the ECAC South Championship, beginning with a quarterfinal match at Catholic on Wednesday, November 12.

The Wolverines (11-7-3) were awarded the sixth seed and will travel to third-seeded Catholic (12-6) for a rematch of an October 29 contest won by the Cardinals 3-2 at Dr. Scott D. Miller Stadium.

The winner of the Wesley/Catholic match will face the winner of Washington & Jefferson/Frostburg State match in Frostburg, Maryland.

King's College earned the top seed in the ECAC South and will face eighth seeded Widener.  Wilkes travels to Penn State-Behrend for the remaining quarterfinal match.

After Wednesday's quarterfinals, the four semifinalists will travel to the highest remaining seed for both the semifinals and championship matches on November 15.

Wesley is coming off an exciting run through the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament.  The Wolverines defeated St. Mary's (Md.) 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Omar De Los Santos (Prescott Valley, Ariz./Prescott Valley) in the 98th minute.

The win earned a trip to previously unbeaten and untied No. 2 York (Pa.).  Wesley shut out the Spartans behind 16 saves from goalkeeper Nick Talarico, who then stoned YCP on three straight penalty kicks as the Wolverines advanced to the championship game.

Wesley, playing in it's first conference title game since 2004, fell 3-0 at Salisbury.
