Second-seeded and seventh-ranked Salisbury overcame an early deficit to down top-seeded and second-ranked York, 11-8, on Saturday night in the CAC men's lacrosse championship game in York, Pa. 

The victory clinches the second-straight and 21st overall CAC crown for Salisbury (16-3), which earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Sea Gulls will be making their 30th straight and 36th overall NCAA appearance, while York (17-2) must now wait for Sunday night's selection show to learn its NCAA path.

The Spartans raced out to an early 5-1 lead behind a four goal opening quarter, which included netting the opening marker 17 seconds into the game. However, Salisbury rallied back using a six-goal second quarter to take the lead for good en route to the title. 

Griffin Moroney sparked the seven-goal run by tallying two markers in the second frame. Moroney netted two unassisted goals in less than three minutes to pull the Sea Gulls within two, 5-3. Jarrett Bromwell netted his only marker of the contest with just under four minutes left to play in the opening half, leveling the score at five all.

Zach Pompea, who finished the game as the Sea Gulls' leading scorer after netting his fourth hat trick of the season and second straight, gave Salisbury the lead with just over a minute left to play in the first half.  

The first half rally was capped off by senior defenseman Kyle Tucker, who turned in a great individual effort. Tucker caused a turnover, stripping the ball away from York's Dillon Hannah, scooped up the loose ball, and proceeded to go coast-to-coast weaving his way through the Spartan defense before finishing the clear himself with his first goal of the season, ripping the ball past York goalie Landry Marshall to give Salisbury a 7-5 lead with three seconds left in the half.

Josh Melton continued the scoring run for Salisbury as he helped push the lead to 10-7 heading into the final quarter of play. Melton found the back of the cage twice in the third quarter, finishing off a Pierre Armstrong pass while also tallying an unassisted marker with just over two minutes to play.

The Salisbury defense continued their dominant play, forcing the Spartans into 19 turnovers while causing 12 of them. Three different players finished tied for the team-lead in caused turnovers as Cory Berry, Kevin Murphy, and Drew Borkowicz each tallied two. Tucker scooped up a team-best four groundballs while causing one turnover and tallying a goal to round out his performance.

York was led by Jake Hvazda (2g, 1a) and Thomas Pfeiffer (2g, 1a) in the loss.
