Salisbury Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Hampden-Sydney into NCAA Quarterfinals; York Bows Out to Lynchburg
Top-ranked Salisbury advanced to the NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals with a high-scoring 25-12 victory over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium.
The Sea Gulls (19-1) will now host Cabrini (17-3) on Wednesday at Sea Gull Stadium with a spot in the Final Four at stake. Cabrini handed Salisbury its lone loss of the season, 11-10 in overtime, in SU's regular season finale on Apr. 14.
CAC Player of the Year Nathan Blondino (7g, 4a) and Brendan Bromwell (5g, 1a) led the high-powered SU attack.
In York, Pa., sixth-ranked York saw its season come to a close with a 10-8 loss to 16th-ranked Lynchburg. The Spartans close the year at 17-4 with the defeat.
Lynchburg's victory was keyed by a 6-1 edge in the second quarter that gave the Hornets an 8-3 advantage at halftime. The York attack was led by three goals from Matt Whitcher, four assists from Cameron Leech, and two goals and one assist from Brendan McGrath.
