Salisbury and York Men's Lacrosse Post Convincing Victories in NCAA Second Round
Top-ranked Salisbury and sixth-ranked York each posted convincing home victories in the second round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. With the wins, the Sea Gulls (18-1) and Spartans (17-3) advance to Saturday's third round.
In Salisbury, Md., Salisbury rolled past Misericordia 24-3. Carson Kalama (6g, 2a), Nathan Blondino (4g, 2a), and Nick Garbarino (4g, 1a) paced the high-powered SU attack that broke open a 2-1 game with a 7-0 second quarter.
The Sea Gulls will now meet Hampden-Sydney (16-5), which defeated Transylvania 23-8 in the second round. Location and game time have yet to be determined for the Saturday matchup.
In York, Pa., York cruised to a 12-1 triumph over Morrisville State. The Spartans jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in the landslide victory. Brendan McGrath (4g, 1a), Matt Whitcher (2g, 2a), and Austin Glab (2g, 1a) led the York attack, while Landry Marshall made 10 saves to earn the win in net.
Up next for the Spartans is Lynchburg (14-6), which defeated Sewanee 14-12 on Wednesday night.
