Salisbury Men's Lacrosse Tops York 15-5, Earns 20th CAC Championship

The Salisbury men's lacrosse team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back in a 15-5 victory over York in the CAC Championship on Saturday in Salisbury, Md. It marked the 20th overall CAC title and third in the last four years for the Sea Gulls, who avenged last year's title-game defeat to the Spartans.

With the win, second-ranked Salisbury (17-1) earns the CAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while the fourth-ranked Spartans (16-3) will hope for an at-large bid. NCAA selections will be announced on Sunday, May 7 at 9 p.m. on NCAA.com.

The Sea Gulls scored early and often in the victory, tallying the first 11 goals of the contest and opening up an 11-1 edge entering the halftime break. CAC Player of the Year Nathan Blondino and Nick Garbarino led the way for SU. Blondino registered three goals and five assists, while Garbarino scored six times.

Goalkeeper Colin Reymann stopped nine shots to earn the win between the pipes for SU, while Kyle Tucker (4 ct, 3 gb) and Aaron Leeds (3 ct, 5 gb) paced the Salisbury defensive effort.

Duncan Campbell was the Gulls' X factor in the winning, securing 61% of his faceoffs to let Salisbury play make-it take-it lacrosse all afternoon.
