Salisbury and York Advance to NCAA Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals
Third-ranked Salisbury and seventh-ranked York each posted convincing victories in the second round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday, advancing to the quarterfinal round. This marks the first time since 2012 that the CAC has sent two teams to the final eight.
In Salisbury, Md., the Sea Gulls took down Colorado College, 16-5, at Sea Gull Stadium. James Burton and Carson Kalama led the way SU attack with three goals and an assist apiece, while Nathan Blondino tallied two goals and three assists and Nick Garbarino notched a hat trick. Salisbury improved to 20-1 with the victory.
The Sea Gulls will now host Denison (18-1) on Wednesday at Sea Gull Stadium with a spot in the Final Four at stake.
In York, Pa., York made history with a 12-5 victory over 20th-ranked Washington & Lee. The win advances the Spartans in the national quarterfinals for the first time in school history. The Spartans improve to 18-3 overall while the Generals season comes to a close at 16-4.
The Spartans will host Gettysburg (16-2) on Wednesday in their Elite Eight matchup at Kinsley Field.
